Co-Occurring PTSD Treatment at Discover Recovery
PTSD treatment is available at our residential treatment centers in Long Beach and Camas, WA, and our outpatient clinic in Portland, OR. All of our mental health programming is delivered alongside substance use treatment, allowing our clients to receive integrated care that supports their recovery journey.
Safely Quit Active Use
Trying to quit drugs or alcohol alone is challenging on its own; trying to do so when you live with PTSD can be even more so. Our medical and residential detox programs can provide support for you or your loved one as they quit using alcohol, opioids, or other drugs that cause intense withdrawal symptoms. 24/7 medical monitoring, nutrition support, and medication-assisted treatment enable our clients to stablize before moving forward with treatment.
Make Symptoms Manageable
PTSD can cause constant stress for the brain and body, and when those symptoms ramp up in response to specific trauma-related triggers, the pain can be overwhelming. Mental health medications can be a safe and effective part of treatment for many people with PTSD. Discover Recovery provides medication management services for our clients to help them find and stick to a regimen that works.
Recognize and Cope with Your Triggers
Whether you know what your triggers are or not, evidence-based therapies can help you learn to cope with them. During residential or outpatient treatment at Discover Recovery, you or a loved one will work closely with an individual therapist and engage in group and family sessions. Our team utilizes trauma-informed methods to avoid re-traumatization, and your therapy plan may include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), prolonged exposure (PE), and more.
Process Trauma and Become Resilient
Processing your trauma can help you become more open to a life without drugs or alcohol. With support from our team of experts, you can take steps to process your trauma in a safe, controlled space while reconnecting with your health, peace, and purpose. Group sessions during treatment at Discover Recovery can allow you to connect with others who share similar experiences and build a supportive community.
Our Veterans Treatment Program
Veterans are more likely to develop both PTSD and substance use disorders compared to civilians. Discover Recovery is proud to be a VA Community Care provider, making access to veteran-specific treatment easier. We work closely with VA care teams to create tailored treatment plans when clients enroll. During treatment, veterans work directly with both a mental health and substance use treatment professional. After completing a program, our team collaborates with veteran clients and VA providers to develop an aftercare transition plan that supports long-term recovery.
