It depends. Insurance coverage, the level(s) of care needed, medications, and other services all influence how much you or a loved one will pay for rehab out-of-pocket.

Many major insurance carriers to offer coverage for addiction treatment. We accept most major private insurance plans at Discover Recovery. We are not able to accept Medicare, Medicaid, or other state insurance plans.

The length of addiction treatment depends on several factors, like physical and mental health, substance use history, and personal needs.

  • Detox – If needed, most people complete detox within a few days
  • Residential – Treatment in a residential program lasts 30-90 days
  • Partial hospitalization (PHP) – PHPs usually last 3-6 weeks
  • Intensive outpatient (IOP) – IOPs typically last 3-6 weeks

Yes. Addiction treatment can be highly effective for people with substance use disorder. Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) can help manage cravings for people recovering from alcohol, opioid, and other substance addictions. Evidence-based therapies—often used alongside medications—teach clients how to handle challenges and triggers without returning to use. Integrated mental health support addresses the root cause of many substance use issues and makes recovery more sustainable.

If you’ve already tried to get your loved one to go to rehab, you likely know how hard it can be. Educating yourself about addiction and showing compassion for their situation is always the first effective step—accusing them or talking down will likely make the situation worse. Professional interventionists can bring together loved ones to confront someone struggling with drugs or alcohol in a compassionate, supportive setting. You can contact Discover Recovery, and we can connect you with the right resources.

It depends. If you’re in active use and still working, committing to recovery—and attending treatment—is still the best thing you can do for your health. You might need to take a few days for a detox program and to get comfortable in a residential program before trying to work and engage in treatment. Your care team might recommend taking a full break from work for a couple of months so that you can focus on your recovery, especially if work stress is a major trigger for substance use.

Before leaving treatment, we help our clients create an aftercare and relapse prevention plan. Relapse prevention therapy teaches people how to recognize the signs of relapse before using drugs or alcohol again so they can reach out for help. Aftercare connects clients to resources like continued therapy, job placement assistance, financial coaching, case management, and support groups.
