Prior to joining Discover Recovery, Dr. Fischer served as the chief medical officer and medical director for substance use disorder services at Columbia River Mental Health Services. In this role, he led various programs, including NorthStar, an opiate treatment program, and the STAR County Jail MAT program. He also headed the Center for Dual Diagnoses and Recovery, providing expert care and MAT education to the public and law enforcement.

He held leadership positions at The Vancouver Clinic, where he co-chaired the strategy committee for a $100M market expansion and building project, served as vice-chair of the finance committee, and developed an innovative team-based care model, known as “Team Medicine,” which has been successfully implemented across multiple clinic sites. His experience extends to his role as a medical director for an anticoagulation clinic, where he streamlined protocols for warfarin management and, as a clinical preceptor, mentored aspiring health professionals.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Fischer has served on the board of trustees for The Gardner School of Arts & Sciences since 2017, providing leadership during a period of significant change. His prior professional experience includes his work as a process engineer at Kimberly-Clark Corporation, where he led operational improvement projects in a complex manufacturing environment.

Dr. Fischer’s commitment to enhancing SUD services and his broad background in healthcare leadership make him an asset to the field of addiction medicine and an advocate for patient-centered care at Discover Recovery.
