Dave Cundiff is a board-certified physician in public health and preventive medicine, as well as addiction medicine. He has dedicated over four decades to advancing addiction treatment and public health. Currently, Dr. Cundiff works as a contract physician at Discover Recovery in Long Beach, Washington, where he focuses on treating patients with substance use disorders (SUD). His work includes prescribing medications to manage withdrawal and prevent relapse and coordinating care with psychiatric and counseling teams.

A key area of Dr. Cundiff’s recent focus has been the use of medication for addiction treatment (MAT)—particularly buprenorphine—to help patients overcome opioid dependency. His extensive experience in addiction medicine is highlighted by his board certification in this field, underscoring his commitment to applying evidence-based treatments in combating the ongoing opioid crisis.

Dr. Cundiff is also an active educator in addiction medicine, frequently presenting on topics such as high-dose buprenorphine treatment and other emerging trends. His research has been published in leading medical journals, including a 2023 paper reviewing buprenorphine dose limits, which has contributed to ongoing discussions in addiction medicine.

Dr. Cundiff earned his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and his MPH from Johns Hopkins University. His career has consistently blended clinical practice with public health advocacy, with a focus on improving the quality of care for individuals facing addiction.
